Berkley has acquired World English language rights to The Dating Game and a second novel in a significant six-figure pre-empt from Laura Heathfield, of Greenstone Literary. The Dating Game is Zetterberg’s first crime novel, following the publication of her up-lit debut The Happiness Blueprint with Mira Harper Collins earlier this year.
Set in Monaco, The Dating Game follows Tilda, a socially awkward board game designer who decides to approach her dating life as a game with rules, eliminating players who don’t follow them, but there’s someone watching her who’s playing their own game of revenge.
Bonvissuto said: “As soon as I started reading The Dating Game my attention was completelycaptured by Tilda. Ally’s incredible voice and the story’s structure cometogether to make this story so unique and special. I can’t wait for readers todiscover it.”
Zetterberg said: “Working with Berkley is a dream come trueand Lisa and her team showed such enthusiasm for my characters and writing thatI immediately knew Tilda and her friends were in the best of hands. Thank youto my incredible agent Laura and Greenstone Literary for their endless support.”
Heathfield said: “When I first heard Ally’s pitch for The Dating Game, I was desperate for her to write Tilda’s story. Ally is bringing a brand-new voice, bursting with razor-sharp wit to the female rage genre and I am thrilled that Berkley share our excitement for Ally’s writing. Readers are going to devour this cat-and-mouse tale of misadventure.”
